Compiled from footage within the National Railway Museum's archives, this DVD takes the viewer all over the state of South Australia with footage from the 1950s and 1960s. A film by Barry Marshall depicts the final days of narrow gauge steam operations on the Peterborough Division as well as across the border in New South Wales at Broken Hill for some standard gauge workings as well. Join former South Australian Railways Chief Engineer Ron Stewien on a tour through the narrow gauge in the north of the state up to Marree before heading down to the South East of the state with views on the newly gauge converted line to Mt Gambier which was converted to broad gauge in 1953. Finally, an official film by the former South Australian Railways showing the gauge conversion of the line to Mt Gambier is included. Exempt from classification.
